Junior year kicks off with CSI: Community Service Initiative. After learning about the work of our CSI partner organizations, the entire junior class has the opportunity to spend a number of school days volunteering throughout New York City. Students take action and gain greater understanding of multiple social justice issues through working with these diverse organizations and their projects.
Students in their junior year are required to fulfill 20 hours of community service. Students are encouraged to return to sites they felt most connected to. CSI Youth Leaders are selected to organize and lead these return trips. Fusing community service with youth activism, Youth Leaders are supported in organizing their peers and planning with site supervisors to facilitate
