It's 3:10pm. SLJ's last class just let out. The After-School Learning Academy is about to begin.
There are dozens of after school opportunities to choose from. You can invest money with the investment club or make documentary films at DC-TV? You can learn to tumble and flip in Capoiera, the Brazilian martial arts club, or you can write short stories for the lit mag? Interested in debate? Apply for the Mock Trial team which meets at Cravath, Swaine and Moore, LLP. Perhaps you run track or shoot hoops. Maybe you're a peer leader, a future statesman, a fist-pounding member of student council.
Nothing in the building that speaks to you? Join Courtroom Drama at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and get paid to act, dance and sing. Become a scholar of black history at the Schomburg Center for African Research or apply for Each One Teach One through the Department of Juvenile Justice and learn how to fight for your rights. Interested in fine arts? Take drawing or printmaking at the MoMA or Cooper Union Saturday Arts Program. New York City is your oyster.
No matter what your talent, SLJ has something for you! Aren't you glad school doesn't have to end at 3:10?
