Dan Abrams

Since June 2011, Frank Bruni has been a twice-weekly Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, focusing on American politics, higher education, and social issues. Raised in White Plains, NY, and Avon, CT, he holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MS from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Mr. Bruni is a frequent CNN Contributor and the author of three New York Times bestselling books, including “Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be: An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania.” Moreover, he is The Times's first openly gay Op-Ed columnist. Mr. Bruni joined the newspaper in 1995 and, over two decades, has served in an array of roles: White House correspondent, Congressional reporter, writer at large for The Times Magazine, chief restaurant critic, and Rome bureau chief. He came to The New York Times after five years at the Detroit Free Press, where he covered the AIDS crisis and the first Persian Gulf War. In 1993, Mr. Bruni was a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize.

Midwin Charles, Esq.

Midwin Charles is the founder of Midwin Charles & Associates LLC and a Contributor at Essence Magazine. She holds a BA from Syracuse University and a JD from the American University, Washington College of Law. Post law school, Ms. Charles served as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for Sixth Circuit Judge Eric L. Clay and as the A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr. Research Fellow in Social Justice at Harvard Law School, under the supervision of Charles J. Ogletree, Jr.  Ms. Charles regularly provides commentary on law, pop culture, and politics for various television shows and media outlets including CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, TV One, and New York’s 107.5 WBLS.  Active in community affairs, she is a member of the Dean's Diversity Council for the American University, Washington College of Law and a member of the board of Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN). In addition, Ms. Charles is a long-standing supporter of the students of SLJ.
