We the students of SLJ affirm that our actions must highlight the best in ourselves and each other. We have identified the following values that help us stay true to this ideal, on our own and as a school society.
We listen when others speak, we don't interrupt or put anyone down, we respect other people's property, and we know that it is never okay to cause physical or emotional harm.
We do our own work on time and to the best of our ability, we do not cheat or plagiarize, and we commit ourselves fully to everything we do.
We deal with problems, as they arise, in a spirit of open communication and respect, and we consider how our actions affect those around us.
We are upfront about our mistakes. At the same time, we don't sell our accomplishments short. We are truthful and sincere in our actions.
We are proud members of the SLJ community. Just as SLJ supports us, we support it, and everyone with a stake in its progress.
We offer praise for achievement and support in times of need, understanding that we all have similar goals, and similar obstacles.
We never withhold our unique talents and ideas when pursuing individual or group success.
These qualities guide our interactions with everyone, without exception. There is no one who receives less than our best.
We understand that the SLJ Honor Code is not a set of rules but a collection of values to which we hold ourselves and each other. It is amendable by mutual agreement. We accept the responsibility to do what is right, and to honor ourselves and our school.
